Iguazu Falls

The word Iguaçu means "big water" in Tupi-Guarani etymology. The river rises near the Serra do Mar and empties into the Parana River.
Formed for about 150 million years, falls isolated ranged from 150 to 300 - depending on the flow of the river - to form a united front in full time. The large jumps are 19, only three of the Brazilian side (Floriano, Deodoro and Benjamin Constant).
The layout of the jumps - most of them facing Brazil - provides the best view for those who observe the scenery from the Brazilian side.
After a wide curve and a rapid, the main river bed, where is the border between Brazil and Argentina, plunges into a deep crevice erosion, forming the Devil's Throat.
The Iguaçu River comes to measuring 1,200 meters in width above the Iguazu Falls, it narrows down to 65 meters in the canyon formed after the falls. The extent of the Brazilian Falls is 800 meters and 1,900 meters on the Argentine side, resulting in a total width of 2,700 meters semicircular shape.
The average flow of the river is 1,500 m3 / s, ranging from 300 m3 / s at times of drought and 6,500 m3 / s in full.
Even in times of drought, the falls are a Brazilian show.
The ideal is to know both sides, since the existing structures provide different sensations, whether by hiking, road transport specialist in Brazil or pleasant train rides through the jungle in Argentina.
Among the various tourist attractions of Foz do Iguacu Iguassu Falls is the most visited.
